Hokoji Temple

This temple was opened by Yasuda Yoshisada of the Kai-Genji clan. Yoshisada was a brave general who served as second in command to Minamoto no Yoshitsune in tracking down and killing Taira clan's defectors who had fled from the imperial capital. It is said that he brought back the seated statue of Aizen Myo-o (Ragaraja), the standing statue of Fudo Myo-o and the seated statue of Dainichi Nyorai from Kyoto. Flowers bloom here in all four seasons, which has earned it the reputation of being a "temple of flowers".
